Photographs from the “Art That People Step On” collection can be used to teach STEM skills such as focusing, observing, questioning, comparing, visualizing, communicating, imagining, and creating.

The photographs can also be used to teach social studies lessons. The picture below, which looks like a face with bullet holes, can be used to motivate students to start discussions on the issue of gun violence, gun control, and the second amendment. Students can research different sides of the issue and reach their own conclusions.

Students, either independently or in small groups, can present their research findings and conclusions.

Students can also debate the pros and cons of policies regarding the issue.
